The Dell PowerConnect 6248P is a network switch designed for enterprise systems. The Dell PowerConnect 6248P is a 48 port Gigabit switch with four combo Gigabit SFP+ or Ethernet ports. The Dell 6248P is a fully managed switch that can be controlled through an industry standard command line interface or with a web-based graphical user interface (GUI).
The Dell 6248P is a power over Ethernet (PoE) capable switch. The 6248P allows for power to be supplied to IP end devices across all 48 ports. Please note that for full 15.4W power to be supplied to all 48 ports, an optional EPS-470 power supply must be used. The Dell PowerConnect 6248P can use a redundant RPS-600 power supply to keep your network running in the event of power supply failure.
The network switch features two bays in the back of the chassis that allows for optional modules to be installed. 10GbE Base-T modules, 10GE SFP+ modules, and YY741 stacking modules are supported by the switch. As a stackable switch, up to 12 Dell 6200 series switches can be combined together. A stacking ready Dell 6248P bundle is available.
The Dell 6248P features advanced layer 3 routing capabilities. In addition, the switch is IPv6 ready and supports a plethora of features such as broadcast storm control. The switch has a switch fabric capacity of up to 232 Gbps and has a forwarding rate of up to 131 Mpps. A total of 8,000 MAC addresses can be stored by the Dell PowerConnect 6248P.
